After proving to the US Forest Service (USFS) that we in the High Sierra Voulnteer Trail Crew (HSVTC) were compentent and willing to do difficult work, they asked us to help clean up Marijuana grow sites. There is Federal money (CAMP) to remove the plants, but there is no money to clean up the trash that is left behind. The marijuana growers did not have "trash service" and just threw their trash out in the area around their grow sites. When the site was raided, the growers left as fast as they could and didn't come back for their sleeping bags, etc. I have marked each of the CDs below with a label of "Dope Clean Up" to indicate those trips that were primarly involved with grow site clean up. I have a seperate web site dopefieldcleanup.com
which has additional information about cleaning up dope/marijuans grow sites (it currently is "Under Construction" and should be complete "real soon now").
This ia collection of pictures taken during various High Sierra Volunteer Trail Crew (HSVTC) activites. The pictures were taken by many different people with a wide range of cameras, and interests (anyone want more pictures of Banana Slaugs?) Some cameras were set to get the most pictures possiable on internal storage, wihch resulted in small pictures, and others made their pictures as large as they could.
When pictures are displayed I have made my version of "thumb nails" of the various formatted pictures. However if any of the displaayed pictures is "clicked" on, a larger version will be shown. If the original is a small format picture then the image size may not increace very much, however if it is a large format picture then the browser will try to "fill" the screen. On my Windows system this results in the open window being filled with the picture with a small + in a circle. At this point if the image is "clicked" again a full size picture will be displayed with "extra" parts sometimes being off screen. At this point the image may be manipulated with a mouse, side bars on the screen or your fingers if your screen is "touch sensitive". Eventually be clicking on the upper left of the screen (the "x" symbol) you will return to the original "thumb nail" picture.
I originally made CDs of many of the HSVTC activites and gave them to any HSVTC members that wanted them. In the older original CDs I was able to provide more information about each picture, however there has been s several year delay in making the "new" CDs and I have forgotten some details. In the following items I have kept the original CD numbers as a convientnt way of seperating each collection. In several places I will have the same picture in more than one location. Some of the picture information is not extensive enoght to verify that each picture is unique, so I just stuck the pictures wheaver it seems resonable. I have placed the date from at least one picture on each CD item. Note that some of the camera's may have incorrect dates entered into them.
I have never been very good with spelling and so anyone reading here will discover many new ways of spelling just about anything. Not only have I made errors in spelling but careful examination of what I have here, will reveal more errors that I have made, sorry.
As of 7/17/2025, there are three CDs still to be processed. As I get time I'll add them in to this set.
There is a large amount of information here about the various tools, etc. that the HSVTC used to have for our work. As of 9:22 AM 7/14/2025, it is not totally clear what has happened to it.
